经中国教育部批准，2021年5月，由闽江学院与塞浦路斯欧洲大学合作创立不具有法人资格的中外合作办学机构——闽江学院国际数字经济学院。学院现有计算机科学与技术系、电子信息工程系、电子商务系、视觉传达设计系4个系，现有2022级、2023级、2024级、2025级4个年级，共计在校生1054人，学生均可获得中外双学籍和中外双学位授予资格。
Approved by the Ministry of Education of China, in May 2021, Minjiang University (MJU) and European University Cyprus (EUC) cooperated to found the International Digital Economy College (IDEC), which is a Sino-foreign joint education institution without legal person status. IDEC offers four undergraduate programs: Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Marketing and Digital Communications, and Graphic Design. It has four cohorts, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 with a total of 985 students currently enrolled. Students are eligible for Chinese-foreign dual enrollment and can be awarded dual degrees.
2023年，福州与塞浦路斯首都尼克西亚缔结姐妹城市。同年，闽江学院受邀签订伊拉斯谟机构合作协议（Erasmus Programme），师生可申请多达30个国家300多所大学的交流资助计划，学生毕业后有机会进入乌德勒支大学联盟成员名校深造。
In 2023, Fuzhou, China established friendly relations with Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus. In the same year, MJU signed an inter-institutional agreement under the Erasmus Programme, enabling faculty and students to apply for exchange funding programs at over 300 universities across 30 countries. Additionally, graduates will also have the opportunity to pursue further studies at prestigious universities within the Utrecht Network.

The academic staff of IDEC is highly qualified. The academic faculty members are provided by both EUC and MJU. Among them, the academic faculty members provided by MJU mainly come from the School of Computer and Big Data, the College of Physics & Electronic Information Engineering, the College of Economics and Management, the Fine Arts & Design College of Minjiang University, the College of Foreign Language, and other supporting colleges and public teaching units.

The teaching quality at IDEC is excellent. In October 2023, IDEC successfully passed the review of the External Evaluation Committee (EEC) of the Cyprus Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education with the highest “Compliant” rating. All four programs offered by IDEC received the highest “Compliant” rating in all 14 sub-areas of the four major areas of the review. The Marketing and Digital Communications program and the Computer Engineering program of IDEC are recognized as national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, developed in collaboration with the College of Economics and Management and the School of Computer and Big Data, respectively. The Electrical and Electronic Engineering program is recognized as a provincial first-class undergraduate major construction site, developed with the College of Physics & Electronic Information Engineering. IDEC aims to cultivate interdisciplinary talents in the fields of new engineering and new liberal arts, pioneering an international, cross-disciplinary talent development model that integrates digital technology with engineering, business and art. This initiative supports the development of discipline group of Information Intelligence and Big Data and related disciplines, aiding MJU in developing into a high-level application-oriented university with unique features.

Since its establishment in 2021, IDEC has placed significant emphasis on the all-round development of students' sound moral grounding, intellectual ability, physical vigor, aesthetic sensibility and work skills, and cultivated application-oriented talents with international vision. Students have achieved many excellent successes. Representative accomplishments include: The project "Century Jade—Digital Integration Ignites Heritage, Craftsmanship of Blanc de Chine" won the national silver award in the China International College Students' Innovation Competition (2024) and the national bronze award in the 14th "Challenge Cup" Qin Chuangyuan China College Student Entrepreneurship Plan Competition. The project "Dinghai Shen Deng" won the bronze award in the China International College Students' Innovation Competition (2023). The project "An Instant Digital Dental Restoration System Based on Automatic Restoration Design and Rapid Fabrication Materials" ranked first in the digital economy track and won the second prize overall with the third-place ranking in the group category. The university successfully hosted the Fujian Division Selections of the 13th and 15th National College Students' E-Commerce "Innovation, Creativity & Entrepreneurship" Challenge in 2023 and 2025. The "Qing He Yi Ci" project team received the national grand prize, along with the Best Creativity Award, Best Entrepreneurship Award, and Best Innovation Award. Seven projects, including "Yi Shu Platform" and "Gestational Diabetes Mellitus Nutrition Management," won national first prizes, while three projects, such as "Cheng Gong Labor Dispatch," received national second prize. Faculty members including Lin Zhongyan, Wang Ying, Wu Mei, Wang Huimin, and Shi Chenxing were recognized with the Best Faculty Advisor and Excellent Advisor awards. Additionally, MJU was presented with the Provincial Excellent Organization Award. At the 15th “Lanqiao Cup” National Software and Information Technology Professionals Competition in the Visual Art Design category, the student work "Tian Sheng Wen" won the first prize in the national finals. Over the past three years, the university has accumulated over 100 provincial and national awards in various disciplinary competitions. Two students were awarded the title of "Entrepreneurship Star of Fujian Province," and five students received the honor of "Innovation and Entrepreneurship Model."

Centered on the construction of the "MJU Five-Educations" and the implementation of the "Seven Hundred" College Student Development Program, students' comprehensive qualities have been comprehensively enhanced. This is evidenced by the achievement of over 10 provincial-level awards in sports competitions, first place in the university sports meet opening parade, the Sportsmanship Award, among other honors. The college choir won first prize in university-level competitions.
